Kim Jong-un called the participation of North Korean soldiers in the battles in Kursk region a “sacred mission” and promised to erect a monument to them

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has confirmed the dispatch of North Korean soldiers to Kursk Region to take part in battles against the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). He called the soldiers’ mission “sacred” and they themselves “heroes.” “A monument to military exploits will soon be erected in our capital city, glorifying the heroism of the proud sons of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, and flowers will be laid at the graves of the soldiers who gave their lives with wishes for eternal life,” Kim Jong-un said in a statement released by the Korean Central Telegraphic Agency (KCTAK). The North Korean leader also sent “warm battle greetings” to the Russian army, which won a “great victory” in the Kursk region.

Shortly after the publication of the DPRK leader’s statement, Vladimir Putin expressed his gratitude to Kim Jong-un personally and the entire North Korean leadership for their assistance. “The Russian people will never forget the feat of Korean special forces fighters. We will always honor Korean heroes who gave their lives for Russia, for our common freedom, on a par with Russian brothers in arms,” Putin said. He emphasized that the DPRK soldiers showed a high level of training and selflessness. “They fulfilled their duty with honor and valor, covering themselves with unfading glory,” concluded the Russian “president.”
