Russian propagandists Vladimir Solovev and Margarita Simonyan, members of the Putin List, have accused Ukraine of trying to use the missile attack on the city of Sumy, which killed 35 people, to disrupt negotiations on ending the war launched by the new US administration. In his program “Vecher,” Solovev noted that foreign media outlets are helping Kyiv in this.
“Deutsche Welle, as one would expect, immediately blames us for everything: the arrival in the city center, the large number of dead… There is a feeling that traditional German propaganda – naturally, coupled with British propaganda – is trying to create another Bucha,” he said, referring to a town near Kyiv where dozens of bodies of civilians with hands tied behind their backs and gunshot wounds to the head were found after Russian troops retreated in 2022. Ukraine then scrapped talks with Russia. Moscow denies involvement in war crimes in Bucha, accusing Kyiv and Western media of fabricating evidence. The Russian Defense Ministry called the footage of the corpses “staged”.
