Trump accused Zelenskyy of trying to pull out of rare earth metals deal

“If he does that, he’s going to have problems, big, big problems,” Reuters quoted the US president as saying in a conversation with the media. Trump did not clarify what he meant, but when discussing relations with Kyiv, he also said that Zelenskyy “wants to be a member of NATO, but he will never be a member of NATO. He understands that.”

A day earlier, Bloomberg reported that Ukraine will ask for changes to the US-proposed version of the economic deal. Kyiv is concerned that Washington wants control over all major infrastructure and mineral investments in Ukraine with no time limits. This could undermine the country’s EU accession process, and also does not rule out the option that Washington will again demand that Ukraine reimburse all military and economic aid provided since the beginning of the war.
