Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni suggested urgently convening an emergency summit between the US and Europe to discuss the current situation after the conflict between Ukrainian and US Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump at the White House. “An emergency summit between the United States, European countries and allies is needed to talk frankly about how we intend to deal with today’s serious challenges, starting with Ukraine, which we have defended together in recent years,” Meloni said (quoted by Bild).
She added that Italy “in the coming hours” will present a relevant proposal to its partners. At the same time, the head of the government stressed that the split within the Western alliance weakens all its members and plays into the hands of those who are “interested in the decline of Western civilization.”
