The Kremlin confirmed Vladimir Putin’s earlier proposal to the United States to cooperate in the mining of rare and rare-earth metals. Despite years of state propaganda efforts to demonize the image of the United States, Putin’s spokesman Dmitrii Peskov said there were “broad prospects” for trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries. “Americans need rare earth metals. We have plenty of them,” he said during a press call.
According to Peskov, Russian authorities have certain plans to develop strategic resources and are ready to cooperate in this area. Moscow will be open to joint projects when “there comes a moment of political will” on the issue of mineral development, the Kremlin spokesman said.
