UK develops maritime drones for Ukraine

The UK is involved in the development of two uncrewed maritime vessels for use by the Ukrainian military. This is reported by Naval Technology (NT), citing messages to Parliament from UK Defense Procurement Minister Maria Eagle. In answers to British parliamentarians, dated February 4, the Minister reported on the work on programs for the creation of unmanned maritime systems Wasp and Snapper. These projects, as the publication notes, were previously mentioned at the annual dinner organized by the head of the British Defense Ministry John Healey on January 28.

Maria Eagle emphasized that Wasp and Snapper are “new crewless maritime systems” that were operationally developed specifically to support Ukraine. According to her, the drones are currently undergoing final testing and additional information on them will be provided in due course.
