Billionaire Elon Musk has called the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) a “criminal organization” and accused it of funding biological weapons research. “Did you know that USAID, using your tax dollars, has funded biological weapons research, including COVID-19, that has killed millions of people?” – Musk wrote on social media X.
To his post, he attached a message from another social network user, in which the latter wrote that USAID, being a “CIA front organization,” sent $53 million to EcoHealth Alliance. The latter, in turn, supported research on coronaviruses in the laboratory of the Chinese city of Wuhan with these funds.
Prior to that, according to the Associated Press, Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) employees attempted to gain access to classified USAID documents. However, senior agency security officials refused to provide them with classified information. As a result, they were placed on unpaid leave on February 1. Commenting on the publication about this, Musk wrote: “USAID is a criminal organization. It’s time for it to die.”
