Dugin calls peace agreement with Ukraine a defeat for Russia

The ideologist of the concept of “Russian world” Aleksandr Dugin expressed the opinion that concluding a peace agreement with Ukraine without achieving victory would be tantamount to defeat for Russia. In his Telegram channel he wrote: “The worst thing for us Russians is peace before victory. That is truce instead of victory. After all, for us it will be a defeat.”

Dugin also said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was not interested in peace talks because he was sure that Kyiv was “winning the war on all parameters” and the Russian side had “lost under five million.” “If Zelenskyy recognized the real state of affairs, he would seek to freeze the conflict, gather his forces and start again. This was the case in 2014, when we made a fatal mistake, believed the West and did not introduce troops in time,” he added.

The philosopher noted that Russia is now paying a “high price” for those decisions. At the same time, in his opinion, Zelenskyy, sabotaging the negotiations and insisting on the continuation of the conflict, “objectively plays to Russia’s interests.” However, if the Ukrainian president realizes the situation, Russia, Dugin is convinced, will find itself in a dangerous position. Readiness for peace instead of victory is Moscow’s weak point, he emphasized.
