Moscow’s Koptevsky District Court has arrested activist Evgenia Chirikova in absentia, accusing her of deliberately spreading false information about the actions of the Russian army. Evgenia was put on an international wanted list, which was reported in court to the RIA Novosti.
On November 22, law enforcers searched the apartment of Evgenia Chirikova’s parents in Moscow. As reported by the portal Activatica, the lawyer said that the parents of the activist appear as witnesses in criminal cases related to “fakes” about the military and “justification of terrorism”. Chirikova links these actions to her anti-war activities abroad and the publication of the movie “Prisoners,” which is about Ukrainian civilians kidnapped by Russian security forces.
Moscow’s Investigative Committee in November filed a case against Chirikova under the article on “justification of terrorism.” She was previously accused in absentia of participating in a terrorist community, organizing and financing terrorism, and spreading false information about the Russian army.
Evgenia Chirikova has been living in Estonia since 2015 and is a member of the Council of the Free Russia Forum. In the past, she gained fame as a leader of the Movement in Defense of the Khimki Forest and a member of the Coordinating Council of the Opposition.
In January 2024, the Russian Ministry of Justice included Chirikova in the register of “foreign agents”.
