Vladimir Putin has promoted Apti Alaudinov, commander of the Akhmat special forces and deputy head of the Defense Ministry’s Main Military and Political Directorate, to the rank of lieutenant general.
The corresponding decree was published on the portal of legal information.
Alaudinov was in the combat zone in Kursk Region after the invasion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) in early August. On August 6, the day Ukrainian troops crossed the border, he urged people to stock up on popcorn and watch how “ours are destroying the enemy.” On August 8, he claimed that “the situation is not critical,” on August 10, he assured that “we are controlling the situation as much as possible,” and on August 11, he said that “the situation is slowly stabilizing.”
