Zelenskyy imposed sanctions against Georgian prime minister and billionaire Ivanishvili

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has imposed sanctions against the Georgian leadership for cracking down on opposition protests. “These are sanctions against that part of the government in Georgia that is now surrendering Georgia to Putin,” Zelenskyy said.

According to the document published on the website of the Ukrainian president, the restrictions were imposed against 19 people. In particular, billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili, founder of the Georgian Dream party, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, head of the State Security Service Grigol Liluashvili, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, as well as a number of judges and members of the Georgian parliament fell under Kyiv’s sanctions.

Zelenskyy called on the US, the EU and other partners of Kyiv to “act on principle” and also impose restrictions against the Georgian authorities. If this is not done, he said, Georgia will lose decades and lose its freedom. “We cannot lose anyone in this region – neither Georgia, nor Moldova, nor Ukraine. Together we need to defend ourselves against Moscow,” the Ukrainian president emphasized.
