48% of Russians opposed the introduction of fines for “propaganda of Childfree”, according to the results of the VСIOM poll. 44% of respondents supported the initiative, while 8% found it difficult to answer.

Representatives of the younger generation do not support the draft law most of all: 78% of the so-called “zoomers” (those born in 2001 and later) are against it, and 66% of the “younger millennials” (born between 1992 and 2000) are against it.

The survey found that only 23% of Russians are aware of the bill, while 26% have only partially heard of it. More than half of the respondents (51%) first learned about the initiative during the survey.

The majority of Russians (55%) are sure that the introduction of fines for “propaganda of Childfree” will not affect the birth rate in the country. Only a quarter (24%) believe that such measures will lead to an increase in the birth rate, while 10% are sure that it will, on the contrary, decrease.

The poll was conducted on September 29, 1.6 thousand Russians over 18 years old took part in it. The sampling error is 2.5%.
