The leader of the Palestinian radical Islamist movement Hamas Yahya Sinwar was killed by the Israeli military in the Gaza Strip. This was confirmed by a senior Hamas militant in the Gaza Strip, Khalil al-Haya, Al Jazeera TV channel reported.
Al-Haya also said that Hamas will not release the Israeli hostages it seized a year ago until Israel withdraws its troops from the Palestinian enclave. Hamas is recognized as a terrorist organization in the European Union, the United States, Israel and a number of other countries.
