Water supply will be limited in Feodosia due to a fire at the largest oil depot on the peninsula, which was damaged in a strike by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The fire at the Marine Oil Terminal cannot be extinguished for the fourth day.
“In connection with repair work of the North Crimean channel culvert, as well as increased water consumption for the elimination of emergencies of man-made nature from 10.10.2024 the supply of the resource will be carried out from two reservoirs – Feodosia and Front”, – reports the enterprise Crimean Water.
They added that in this regard, there may be a temporary deterioration in the quality of drinking water by odor, while the chemical and bacteriological indicators of the supplied water meets the requirements.
“After the fire is localized, the water supply will be reorganized and water supply will be restored only from the Feodosia reservoir,” the company’s press service added.
The AFU attacked an oil depot in Feodosia on “Russian President” Vladimir Putin’s birthday on October 7. A heavy fire started. According to some reports, the strike was carried out by US ATACMS missiles. In social networks appeared photos with three columns of thick black smoke. The city authorities introduced a regime of technogenic emergency of a municipal nature, restricting access of people and transportation to the affected area.
According to reports of the emergency services of the region, the fire has covered almost 3000 m², several cisterns continue to burn. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, there is no threat to the population and the operational situation “is fully under control”. More than a thousand people were evacuated from the emergency area, reported the Russian-appointed “mayor” of Feodosia, Igor Tkachenko. Crimea’s “head” Sergei Aksyonov urged residents to “remain calm,” noting that the situation is “under control of the federal center.” He also promised to fully compensate people for the “loss of property” due to the fire.
Rospotrebnadzor has detected an excess of sulfur dioxide in the air in the neighborhood of Blizhnie Kamyshi near the oil depot. “How dangerous it is, will depend on the duration of exposure,” – noted in the agency and recommended residents not to leave the house and ventilate the premises.
“Authorities” of Feodosia call the fire at the oil depot an “incident” without specifying what exactly caused it. They also claim that “there are no victims or casualties.” At the same time, the Baza telegram channel close to the Russian security forces wrote that the AFU hit the terminal with two missiles, as a result three people were wounded, they were hospitalized.
In 2019, the occupation “authorities” Crimea sold the Marine Oil Terminal at an auction for 651 million rubles. The buyer was a Moscow-based laying company, Firma Gunas, linked to businessman Viktor Khmarin, who studied with Putin at the LSU law faculty. The businessman is married to the president’s cousin and owns vineyards in Crimea, as well as oil depots in the Moscow region.
