A secret Ukraine-NATO meeting was held between August 27 and 29 in the German city of Dresden, BILD writes, citing an informed source. The closed event was attended by top leaders of the armies of 35 states, including the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany and Sweden. Ukraine was represented by Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavlyuk, commander of the AFU ground forces.
“We see in the Ukrainian conflict that first of all the use of drones has made a huge leap, that drones are now ubiquitous on the battlefield. That is why we all have to confront this new threat from the air,” Lieutenant General Alfons Meiss, inspector of the German Land Forces, noted during the meeting.
At the conference, the latest examples of German military equipment were presented: the Skyranger wheeled air defense system for fighting drones, capable of destroying UAVs at a distance of up to nine kilometers, as well as the RCH-155 unmanned wheeled howitzer with a range of 54 kilometers and a rate of fire of up to nine shots per minute. Ukraine will receive more than 50 such howitzers in 2025. The publication does not give any other details of the meeting.
An official Ukraine-NATO meeting was held on 28 August following a corresponding address by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in connection with the most massive Russian missile attack on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure during the war, which took place on 26 August. Following the event, the North Atlantic Alliance decided to increase military support for Kyiv.
