Ukrainian drones attacked the Kirov region on Wednesday, the region’s governor Aleksandr Sokolov said.
“A few minutes ago a UAV flight to Kotelnich was made. The drone attacked a tank for storing oil products. There are no casualties. There is no fire. The situation is under control,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.
According to the governor, the head of Kotelnich Oleg Ismailov and specialized services are working on the site.
According to Baza, three drones attacked a warehouse with oil products at the Vyatka combine. One of them hit the lid of the tank. The second drone hit an empty tank. After the impact of the third drone, a fire broke out in the warehouse.
This is the first attack on the region. The distance from the border to the town of Kotelnich is about 1,250 kilometers.
On August 21, Ukrainian drones attacked targets beyond the Arctic Circle for the first time. The raid on the settlement of Vysokiy in the Murmansk region became a record in terms of range since the beginning of the war. The distance to the border is 1,850 kilometers. The target of the Ukrainian drones was the Olenya military airfield, where strategic missile carriers Tu-95MS and Tu-22M3 are stationed.
The previous record – 1,800 kilometers – was set by the AFU at the end of May, when it attacked Orsk in the Orenburg region, where the Voronezh early warning radar station is located. Before that, the farthest target of Ukrainian drones was a facility in the city of Salavat in the Republic of Bashkortostan, which is 1,660 kilometers from the Russian-Ukrainian border. In April, Ukrainian drones tried to attack a company in Nizhnekamsk, which is 1,200 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
