Russian opposition activist Ilya Ponomarev’s house in Kyiv region has been damaged after an overnight drone attack. Media reports citing sources say the politician and his wife suffered “numerous injuries”, but their lives are not threatened.
It is known that the UAV exploded five meters from the front door. The house suffered damage. In the photos that are published in the network, on the face and chest of Ponomarev can be seen scratches and numerous bruises.
Earlier, on July 31, three drones had already flown into the territory of Ilya Ponomarev’s plot. However, they were shot down by air defense and fell at a distance of 50-100 meters from the house, causing only minor damage.
Later, Ponomarev himself commented on the incident, calling it his “second birthday.” He added that this was the fifth attempt to assassinate him – the most unconventional and more successful than the previous ones.
Ilya Ponomaryov, a Russian opposition figure and former member of the Just Russia party faction in the Russian State Duma, moved to Ukraine shortly after Russia annexed Crimea. He was granted Ukrainian citizenship in 2019. There are several criminal cases against Ponomarev in Russia.
