US begins moving tanks to Poland to reinforce NATO’s eastern flank

The US has started moving armored vehicles from Germany to Poland to strengthen NATO’s eastern flank, Radio Zet reports.

As part of the maneuver, the US military is going to move equipment and ammunition for it from a military base in Mannheim, Germany, to a base in Powidz, Poland, which is located near Poznan. It is noted that the warehouses in Powidz are adjacent to the airport, which will make it possible to instantly airlift equipment along with ammunition if necessary.

A total of 87 tanks, more than 150 infantry fighting vehicles and 18 self-propelled howitzers are planned to be deployed in Powidz. The equipment will be airlifted until the end of September. “The movement of convoys between the U.S. military and Polish regional authorities in the area is coordinated by the Polish Army Movement Coordination Center,” – specified in the Gniezno County Office.

Before that it became known that in the Polish Świętoszów completed the construction of a base to accommodate more than 1 thousand American military. The military facility will be used for rapid collection, obtaining supplies and equipment before moving to the area of tactical operations, explained Polish Brigadier General Dariusz Mendrala.

Earlier, Polish President Andrzej Duda called to prepare for war with Russia in case of Ukraine’s defeat. “If we do not fight back against Russian imperialism and do not blunt Putin’s cruel blade, this voracious monster will attack further and further,” Duda said.

According to him, the North Atlantic Alliance “must be so strong that it makes no sense for anyone to attack it.” He emphasized that other NATO members hold the same point of view.

According to the US-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Putin is preparing for a large-scale war with NATO in the long term. According to analysts, this is evidenced by the build-up of troops, the transition to a war economy and the reform of Russia’s military-administrative division. In particular, the country recreated the Moscow and Leningrad military districts, which will be able to concentrate forces in the western direction.

Earlier, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin warned that Ukraine’s defeat would lead to Russia’s war with NATO and stressed that Putin “will not stop” in his attempts to “seize the sovereign territory of his neighbors.” The army chiefs and defense ministers of the United Kingdom, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, the Czech Republic, Belgium and Estonia also agreed with this view.

Putin himself called such statements “nonsense.” “This is just a figure of speech to justify their erroneous policy on the Russian direction,” he said, emphasizing that Russia has “no resonance, no interest” in going to war with NATO.
