Former US President Barack Obama has expressed support for Vice President Kamala Harris for the Democratic nomination for US President. He wrote about it in the social network X. According to him, support for Harris also expressed his wife Michelle Obama.
Thus, Harris was supported by the overwhelming majority of the leaders of the Democratic Party. Officially her candidacy should be nominated by the party convention in August. Most of its delegates – who were previously ready to nominate Biden – have already said they will vote for Harris.
At the same time, a number of commentators noted that Barack Obama, unlike, for example, Bill and Hillary Clinton, did not directly support Harris immediately after Biden’s announcement that he would not run and advised to support Harris. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump also called attention to this. In his afterward, Obama writes that he called Harris and promised her support some time ago. He also promised to do everything for the vice president to win the election.
