On Wednesday night, a rocket attack on Kyiv by the Russian military injured 51 people, 18 of them hospitalized. Among the injured are six children. This is reported by the military and civilian administrations of the city.
People suffered mainly from shards of glass from the windows blown out by the explosions. An air alert in the city was declared only after a series of explosions, Ukrainian Pravda reported.
The Russian military attacked the city with ballistic missiles, presumably Iskanders. All of them were shot down by Ukrainian air defense forces. The wreckage of about a dozen missiles fell in the left-bank part of Kyiv, in the Darnitsky and Dniprovskyi districts. Fires broke out in at least three places.
In Dniprovskyi district, missile debris damaged the facade of an apartment building, and there was a fire in the building itself. According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, 15 people, including four children, were evacuated from the house. In addition, a children’s hospital in Dniprovskyi district was hit by shelling, Klitschko said. In the hospital the windows were blown out and the entrance was damaged. According to preliminary information, there are no casualties. Two private houses and several cars were also damaged in Darnytskyi and Dniprovskyi districts. Emergency services are working at the scene of the fires.
The AFU air force announced Wednesday morning that ten ballistic missiles were shot down this night, which were flying in the direction of Kyiv. The type of missiles can only be determined after the wreckage is studied by the relevant services, the summary said.
In addition to missiles, the Russian army, attacked Ukraine with ten attack drones, they were also shot down. Almost all of them – over the Odessa region, the command of the AFU Air Force said.
