The Lithuanian government will suspend the work of two border crossings “Shumskas” (from the Belarusian side – “Loša”) and “Tveriačius” (“Vidzy”) from August 18. This was reported by 15min.lt with reference to Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Agne Vaičiukiavičiūtė.
According to the deputy minister, four checkpoints on the border with Belarus will remain open after their closure. Traffic will be mainly redirected to the checkpoint “Miadzinninkai”.
The decision to close two checkpoints is associated with the increased threat from the mercenaries of Wagner PMC, redeployed in Belarus. According to the authorities of Lithuania and Poland, there are more than four thousand mercenaries in Belarus.
