US announces new $200 million military aid package for Kyiv

The US authorities have provided Ukraine with another package of military aid worth 200 million dollars, which includes ammunition for Patriot air defense systems and HIMARS MLRS. This was reported by the White House press service.

As Reuters reported last week, these funds are part of a larger sum (6.2bn dollars) that was released as a result of an accounting error when calculating the cost of military equipment.

In May, the Pentagon said that it had mistakenly overestimated the cost of weapons supplied to Kyiv, which made it possible to make additional deliveries.

The current package, in addition to ammunition for Patriot and HIMARS, includes artillery shells of 105 and 155 mm caliber, tank shells of 120 mm caliber, more than 12 million mortar charges, Javelin anti-tank systems, mine-clearing equipment and other items.
