Yandex co-founder Arkadii Volozh has revealed his position on the Russian invasion of Ukraine for the first time since February 2022.
“I am categorically against Russia’s barbaric invasion of Ukraine, where I, like many, have friends and relatives. I am horrified by the fact that every day bombs are flying into the homes of Ukrainians”, Volozh said.
According to him, despite the fact that he has not lived in Russia since 2014, he realizes that he “has a share of responsibility for the country’s actions”.
“There were many reasons why I had to keep silent. One can argue about the timeliness of my statement, but not about its essence. I am against war”, the statement said.
Volozh made the statement shortly after journalists drew attention to a biography published on the businessman’s personal website.
In it, Volozh described himself as a Kazakh-born Israeli entrepreneur. Russia was not mentioned in the biography as a country where Volozh lived and did business.
