The White House: the U.S. is keeping a close eye on what is happening at the ZNPP

The U.S. is closely monitoring the situation at the Zaporizhzhya NPP in Energodar, which has been seized by Russian troops. White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre said this at a briefing, commenting on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s statement that Russian troops have placed explosives at the ZNPP, Yevropeyska Pravda reported.

“We continue to closely monitor conditions at the nuclear power plant… As we have said before… Russia’s occupation of the nuclear power plant is dangerous. And when it comes to the nuclear power plant, there should be no hostilities there”, she noted.

The White House press secretary said that US President Joe Biden had not discussed the situation at the Zaporizhzhya NPP with Zelenskyy recently.

Earlier, it became known that according to PlanetLabs images, Russian forces placed new unknown objects on the roof of the 3rd power unit. Previously, the same objects had been placed on the roof of Unit 4.
