Vladimir Putin made an address in connection with the military mutiny of Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of the Wagner PMC.
Vladimir Putin called the military mutiny a “stab in the back”. “Anything that weakens us should be put aside; actions that split us are a stab in the back of our country and our people”, Putin said.
He said that those “who organized and prepared the military rebellion betrayed Russia and will answer for it”. He appealed to the military and asked them not to commit “war crimes”.
“We will protect the country from internal betrayal”, Putin said. “Excessive ambition has led to treason”.
He said that Russia’s security forces were ordered to “neutralize those who organized the armed insurgency”.
