Russian President Vladimir Putin will be eliminated by the international community if he does not stop threats to use nuclear weapons, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with the BBC.
“I believe that if he does not stop threatening the world with nuclear weapons, I am sure that the world knows the format to take away his vitality”, he said
Putin is aware of this danger, so he is cautious in his statements, Zelensky added. According to the Ukrainian president, the use of nuclear weapons threatens not only Ukraine but the entire world.
Zelensky called the transfer of tactical nuclear weapons to the territory of Belarus a political and media decision. He noted that he did not think Putin was ready to start a nuclear war because “he loves life”.
“But I don’t want to answer for a man who in the XXI century started a full-scale war against his neighbor”, Zelensky added.
The Ukrainian president’s interview with the BBC came out on June 21. The excerpt, in which Zelensky talks about the possible elimination of Putin, is distributed on Twitter without translation into English.
Vladimir Putin continues to threaten to use nuclear weapons. At a plenary session of Russia’s main forum, the SPIEF, he promised to use it if its territorial integrity, independence, sovereignty, or existence is threatened. At the same time, the president of the Russian Federation said that he has a “negative” attitude towards the idea of using such weapons.
“Nuclear weapons are created to ensure our security in the broadest sense of the word and the existence of the Russian state. But we, firstly, have no such need, and secondly, the very fact of speculation on this topic already lowers the possibility of lowering the threshold for the use of weapons”, Putin said.
He also said that Russia has more nuclear weapons than NATO. “They are trying to talk us into reducing our nuclear potential. They don’t give a shit, as the people say”, he said.
Putin also said that the first nuclear charges were already transferred to Belarus. According to him, the process will be completed by the end of the year. He stressed that this is an element of deterrence.
