U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who is on an official visit to Beijing, said that China has confirmed its promise not to supply Russia with weapons for the war in Ukraine.
Nevertheless, the U.S. administration is concerned about Russia’s possible cooperation with Chinese private firms.
“We [the United States] and other countries have received assurances from China that it is not and will not assist Russia with lethal weapons for use in Ukraine”, Blinken told reporters after two days of talks.
“We haven’t seen any evidence to the contrary. However, we are constantly concerned about Chinese firms – companies that may be providing technology used by Russia to continue its aggressive war in Ukraine”, he added.
Previously, the U.S. has repeatedly accused China of being ready to supply weapons to Russia.
