The largest NATO air exercise Air Defender 23 has begun in Germany. It will last until June 23, RFI reports.
The exercise will involve 10,000 personnel and 250 aircraft from 25 countries responding to a simulated attack on a NATO member country.
The exercise will take place at four sites in Germany, one in the Netherlands and another in the Czech Republic. In all, airspace in three areas of Germany – in the north, east and south of the country – will be used.
Japan and Sweden, which hopes to join NATO, are also taking part in the exercise.
