Thousands of flooded houses in Kherson region were not honored by President Volodymyr Putin’s personal presence. The Russian president has no plans to visit the disaster zone in Kherson Oblast after the Kakhovka HPP dam broke, his press secretary Dmitry Peskov said, RBC reported.
“Reports are coming in all the time. The group is being deployed there. Our rescuers are working selflessly”, the Kremlin spokesman said.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky came to the Kherson region. “In Kherson visited the crossing, which carries out the evacuation of the population from the flooded areas”, the Ukrainian leader wrote in his Telegram-channel. He thanked rescuers and volunteers, and said that the main task now is to protect people’s lives and help them.
On the night of June 6, the upper part of the Kakhovka hydroelectric station near Nova Kakhovka was destroyed in the Kherson region. Dozens of settlements, including Kherson and Nova Kakhovka, were flooded with water. Thousands of people were evacuated from the flooded region.
