The Belgorod region was shelled 130 times in May. This is one-third of all the shelling of the region since the beginning of the war. This is reported by the Agency.
Until September 2022, authorities reported a maximum of 9 shelling per month. In September, the number of reports of shelling reached 13 and continued to grow after that. There were 32 such reports in November, 36 in February 2023, and 42 in April.
Since late May, shelling of the region has become a daily occurrence. Local authorities reported 60 affected residents and eight deaths in one month, the highest monthly figures since the start of the war.
In all, from the start of the invasion to the end of May, authorities say the region was shelled 358 times, killing 32 people and injuring 157.
