Ukraine is “at the finish line” before the counteroffensive, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov told Channel 24 on May 1.
Telegram of war correspondents quotes the minister’s words: “I believe that today we are reaching that finish line, when we can say: ‘Yes, everything is ready.’ And then it will be up to the general staff, the commander-in-chief and his team to decide and understand the situation on the battlefield how, where and when”. According to Reznikov, the key factors in a counterattack are the availability of weapons, trained military and the constant restoration of stocks of expendable weapons, fuel, ammunition, etc.
RBC cited Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov as saying that the Russian Defense Ministry “carefully monitors” statements about Ukraine’s preparations for a counterattack and takes this data into account when “planning the continuation of the special operation”.
