Igor EIDMAN: “Putin’s puzzle has come together”

In an interview with Reuters, Trump’s special envoy Kellogg advocated holding presidential and parliamentary elections in Ukraine by the end of 2025. Reuters sources told Reuters that Kellogg and other U.S. officials have been saying in recent days that elections in Ukraine could be part of a truce agreement with Russia.

It is apparently Putin, who constantly talks about Zelenskyy’s “illegitimacy,” who has conditioned a binding election on the possibility of starting negotiations with Ukraine.

I wrote here a few days ago that the Kremlin wants to use the simulated negotiation process to destabilize and divide Ukrainian society, thus throwing Zelenskyy off and creating political chaos in Ukraine that will undermine its will to resist.

Now the puzzle is finally put together, the mechanism of this special operation has become clear. Putin wants, with Trump’s help, to force Ukraine to declare an election before the start of negotiations (and in addition, probably, an amnesty for Russian agents), and then, in the course of the electoral struggle, he will try to create chaos behind enemy lines. Zelensky will be attacked, on the one hand, by patriots who are ready to continue the war until victory, and on the other hand, by all sorts of newly-bought arrestees and a revitalized old agent network. The Kremlin is counting on the fact that the Ukrainian society and army will begin to split and demoralize. Mobilized and volunteers will try to return home en masse, since “the war is over” and the government is weakened and discredited.

In this situation, Putin will either try to bring his puppet to power, or (more likely) strike again by military force at a divided and demoralized country to achieve his true goal – the surrender of Ukraine.

That is the Putin “peace talks” plan.

P.S. The subversive work of the Russian agency under the guise of some underhanded “peace process” did not stop for a minute during the war. Just one fact: Abramovich still regularly visits Kyiv (I know from informed people). However, the fact that the Russian dictator is demanding elections in Ukraine and clearly wants to dump Zelenskyy is an alibi for the Ukrainian president. If Zelenskyy could surrender Ukraine to the Kremlin, Putin on the contrary would try to keep him in power by all means.
