I must be a lousy historian (PhD in history). Instead of analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of the film about the miscalculations and crimes of Yeltsin’s time like the rest of progressive mankind, I am eager to see the answer to the other main Russian question: what to do?
I note the obvious bias in the discussions in favor of (rather to the detriment of) mulling over the details of the past and, predictably, a terrible lack of vision for the future. Where is Russia going? What are the most likely scenarios for its near-term existence/decay/rotting?
That’s what we need to ponder, in my opinion. We should look ahead to plan actions. And looking for the guilty in the current scary and fast times is a game of tag. Especially since the development of events will not be affected in any way by the area of Yeltsin’s apartment and other bows of pseudo-historical narrative (pseudo – because objectivity in such digging is not a dime’s worth).
