Free Russia Forum co-founders Garry Kasparov and Ivan Tyutrin held a series of important meetings in Brussels
As part of the trip, the politicians participated in an informal breakfast with European Union foreign ministers and met with European Commissioner for Justice and Rule of Law Didier Reynders.
With the foreign ministers, Kasparov and Tyutrin discussed a plan to support Russia’s democratic community and new sanctions against Putin’s regime, as well as a comprehensive solution to the problems of Russians who oppose the war and therefore find themselves outside the Russian Federation. Speaking of future scenarios for Russia, the politicians reiterated that a Ukrainian victory in the war is a prerequisite for Russia to rid itself of Putin’s tyranny and gain freedom.
“The victory of Ukraine is the main goal of the entire free world, and the countries of Europe must take a principled stand and increase aid to Ukraine without responding to calls from Kremlin agents and useful idiots “to end the war at any cost,’ Garry Kasparov said in his speech.
They also discussed the process of organizing an international tribunal for the Russian political and military leadership, freezing Russian assets in the West and establishing representation of the Russian opposition in international institutions.
“The demand for representation of the united Russian opposition in the EU has now grown markedly, and the topic of a comprehensive solution to the problems of Russians in Europe who oppose Russian military aggression in Ukraine is relevant again, – said Ivan Tyutrin. – Thanks to the meeting with the European Commissioner for Justice and Rule of Law we managed to make a serious step forward. Special thanks to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania for organizing this event”.
In April – early May 2023, a conference will be held in the European Parliament, to which representatives of the main Russian opposition groups, including representatives of the Free Russia Forum, have been invited.
The official opening of the representation of the united Russian opposition in the EU is scheduled for mid-March.
